Supplies for class
This list details the supplies that’ll be used for demonstrations – if you have similar materials, feel free to bring those! Got questions? Drop me a line.
I’ll be demonstrating on Arches Cold Press; rough will also be lovely for the techniques used in class. You can use other favorite brands that are equivalent; I don’t recommend student grade papers or hot press.
In addition to these colors below, bring any granulating colors that you have, any brand, on the first day. We’ll be playing with a technique that’s needed for the paintings!
The last two, the Tintorettos, are vegan synthetics – and are growing on me. I used them on the painting samples, and will use them in the class!
If you have brushes like these, you’re golden! No Kolinksy (Kolinskies?) are required, that’s just what I love. But here are links to each, in order as shown:
- Joseph Zbukvic #16 mop JACKSONS
- DaVinci Series 1311 Flat #16 brush AMZ
- Da Vinci Maestro Kolinsky Sable Round 4 BLICK | AMZ| JACKSONS
- Da Vinci Cosmotop – Flat Wash, Short Handle, Size 30 BLICK | AMZ | JACKSONS
- Tintoretto Feltracco Travel Brush Series 1337 Round 8 JACKSONS
- Tintoretto Feltracco Travel Brush Series 1337 Round 2 JACKSONS
MISCELLANY
- roll of tape
- a board to tape your paper to
- a ruler, a pencil, eraser
- a spray bottle
- anything you love to use 🙂
If you have a painting you’d like to do but don’t know how to approach the planning, please do bring your reference and sketches to class sometime. I’d be happy to help you think through it!
